Earlier this morning, the Wisconsin State Legislature passed the 2025-27 state biennial budget and it was signed into law by Governor Evers. The budget includes many different items that impact UW Madison’s operations and capital program.
Today, the Joint Committee on Finance took up the operating and capital budgets for the Universities of Wisconsin, including UW–Madison. This is a major step before the conclusion of the state budget process, but there is still work to be done before the bill is final.
The Universities of Wisconsin, in every part of our state and home to over 164,000 students, are among Wisconsin’s most valuable assets. Governor Evers has been a champion for the UWs, and the legislature recognizes the critical role the UWs play in building a brighter future for all Wisconsinites. We are grateful for their support.
