As the public hearing on Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed budget repair bill gets under way in the Capitol, many groups on campus are responding to the provisions that affect UW-Madison employees and students.
On Sunday, the Associated Students of Madison voted unanimously to oppose the budget repair bill, while the Academic Staff Assembly Monday passed a resolution opposing the budget repair bill. There is also a website detailing the effect of the budget repair bill on academic staff.
The UW-Madison College Republicans have posted a message in support of Walker’s plan. Judith Burstyn, professor of chemistry, chair of the University Committee of and chair of the Board of Directors of PROFS, representing the UW-Madison faculty, has also distributed her testimony from the public hearing.
